Shipping container grades explained
Container grades answer different questions. One-trip speaks largely to age and use history, cargo-worthy to cargo-service condition when documented, and WWT to stationary weather-resistant storage. None is a complete inspection report by itself.
One-trip
Generally one cargo journey. Minor handling wear can exist. Best for cleaner appearance, long-term ownership, and conversions. Not “untouched new.” Shop one-trip inventory.
Cargo-worthy
Used and functionally evaluated for cargo service when backed by a current inspection or document. Cosmetic wear is normal. Documentation is unit-specific and time-sensitive. Shop cargo-worthy inventory.
Wind and water tight (WWT)
Used stationary-storage grade intended to resist ordinary wind and rain. More wear is normal. Not an export or structural certification. Shop WWT inventory.
The grade does not tell you everything
Doors, seals, floor, roof, corner posts, underside, odor, residues, patches, modifications, and documentation all matter beyond the grade word. Paint color is not a grade — judge condition from the written standard and the photo disclosure, not the paint. Use the inspection checklist before and at delivery.
